Image Classification, Custom Metadata & Plate Navigation

April 29, 2026
Custom Metadata in Culture Overlay

The plate page metadata sidebar now displays custom per-well metadata alongside standard fields. When a well is highlighted, the sidebar header updates to reflect it and shows both individual well metadata and aggregated values across selections. A keyboard shortcut lets you toggle the overlay open without reaching for the mouse, and the metadata panel scrolls independently for smoother navigation on data-dense plates.

Custom Metadata Culture Filter

The cultures page now supports filtering by custom metadata. Select a metadata key from a dynamically populated menu, then choose one or more values — the filter applies OR logic within a key and AND across different keys, so you can build precise multi-dimensional queries. Available keys and values are discovered automatically from your organization's data, with debounced search for fast lookup on large metadata sets.

Image Classification on Plates

Image classification results are now integrated directly into the plate and well page views. When a classification run completes, the plate view automatically switches to a classification overlay color-coded by confidence level, and the toolbar icon highlights to indicate results are available.

Details

  • Confidence overlay: Wells are color-coded by classification confidence buckets, with tooltips showing the status and rounded confidence score.
  • Suggested labels: On the well page, a sparkle icon marks the model's suggested culture status in the status picker dropdown.
  • Run prompts: If no classification results exist, a callout box with a pulsing animation guides you to start a classification run.
  • Histogram sidebar: A confidence histogram lets you filter wells by classification label directly from the sidebar.
